The columns a useful daily work report needs, a filled example, and a template you can download and use today. Then, when the reports start arriving late on WhatsApp, how to let the report write itself.
A daily work report (DWR) tells a manager what each person worked on today, what got finished, what is stuck and what happens tomorrow. Done well, it replaces the evening round of phone calls. Done badly, it is a paragraph typed at 7 pm that nobody reads.
The difference is the format. A report with fixed columns can be scanned in a minute and compared across people and days. A free-text message cannot.
These eleven columns cover office, sales and field work. Delete the ones you do not need, but keep Status, Next step and Blockers: those are the ones a manager acts on.
Three rows from one service engineer's day, as they would appear in the template.
Planned · Done · 2.5 h · Next: collect feedback, due in 7 days · No blockers.
Planned · In progress · 1.5 h · Next: replace filter, due tomorrow · Waiting for part from store.
Not planned · Stuck · 1 h · Next: senior technician visit · Needs approval for replacement.
Free, no sign-up. A CSV file with the eleven columns and the three example rows above; it opens in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice.

Each person lists today's tasks, marked Planned.
Update as you go
Change the status when a task finishes, not at 7 pm.
Fill Next step
Every row that is not Done needs one.
Send by a fixed time
Agree it, for example 6:30 pm, so the manager reads them together.
Act on Stuck
The manager reads the Stuck rows first and replies to those only.
A daily work report is a summary of task updates. If the tasks already live on a board, with an owner, a status and a due date, most of the report exists without anyone typing it. On TaskSiddhi:
Date, employee, each task with its client or site, whether it was planned, status, time spent, next step with a due date, and any blockers. The template on this page has all of these as columns.
Yes. It is a CSV file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice, with the eleven columns and three example rows. Save it as .xlsx once it is open if you prefer an Excel workbook.
One row per task, in the same columns every day. Lead with anything Stuck and say what help you need. Keep remarks to a line; the manager should be able to read your report in under a minute.
It is common, but reports in a group chat are hard to compare and easy to lose. A fixed format helps; keeping the tasks themselves on a shared board helps more, because most of the report then already exists.
It shows each person's tasks, statuses and time in one place and lets you export them to CSV or Excel. It does not produce a formatted report document or email one on a schedule.
